The Supreme Court of Sierra Leone on Wednesday 18th December 2024, ruled that the murder case of Abdul Kpaka be tried by a judge and a jury instead of a judge alone.

The Court further ruled that the matter be withdrawn from the Hon. Justice Alhaji Momoh-Jah Stevens and sent to the Chief Justice for reassignment by another judge.

The Court did not grant bail to accused Abdul Kpaka.

The case was earlier put on hold upon the request of the defense counsel, asking that the matter be transferred to the Supreme Court and jointly be tried by a judge and a jury.
