Honourable I.B Kargbo, a veteran journalist and former Information minister, has warned that if the All People’s Congress (APC) party loses the 2028 elections, it will pose an existential threat to its survival.

In an open letter to the Party’s Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya, I.B. Kargbo said that the internal factions and the misuse of social media to dismember the reputation of the Party are alarming.

He further stated that the outcome of the 2023 elections has been a curse to the Party, running into disintegration, creating the Samura Kamara-vs-APC executive battle.

He said this divide has rendered the Party incapacitated to introduce disciplinary mechanisms.

He averred that the missing-links in the Party are that the Executive believes that Samura Kamara’s candidature as a flag-bearer has elapsed, while he (Dr. Samura Kamara) is refusing to stand down.

Hon. Kargbo suggested that the Party summon an emergency National Delegates’ Conference or an inclusive expanded NAC meeting to resolve those outstanding issues that are threatening its survival.

“The APC in its present state of disarray can hardly take part in an extremely competitive election and clinch the president,” he said.

He urged the leadership to resurrect the Party to a state of normalcy.
