There have been recent reports of a significant diamond theft in Kono District, Sierra Leone. The diamond, allegedly stolen from Peima Town in Kamara Chiefdom, was found on the plot of a British investor named Mr. Marah. It was reportedly taken by miners and sold to a Lebanese man named Jihad.
Activist Edmond Abu described the diamond as being very large, comparable to a limb. The accused, Jihad, has since disappeared, and there are claims that the diamond is now in the possession of a high-ranking official in Sierra Leone.
This situation has led to public outcry, with many Sierra Leoneans urging the Government to investigate the matter thoroughly.
Edmond Abu further urged the Minister of Mines to investigate the matter.
