The Inspector General of Sierra Leone Police (SLP) William Fayia Sellu has said they have neutralized the existence of two ex-military officers who had been on the run since taking part in last year’s failed coup on November 26,2023.
IG Salleu asserted that Captain T.L Conteh (RSLAF) and Aiah Aba Senesie (RSLAF) were at advanced stage in recruiting more soldiers to embark on their mission to launch another coup in December in the form of protest or uprising, having prepared two sets of T-shirts with the inscription “the movement for the liberation of democracy, social, economic and political freedom”.
He revealed that the fugitive, who were part of part of last year’s attempted coup, had been under surveillance since the time they left Grafton FAWE to an unfinished house at Calmont Road Waterloo.
“On Friday, Late Captain Senesie woke up in the morning, tied his towel, climbed to the first floor, made some calls and hid himself behind one of the pillars once he saw a car approaching. We knew someone who went there and spent about 3 hours with them,” he noted.
He said as a security sector, they organized a strike force to enter the said house where they were confronted with heavy gunfire, leading to the two being neutralized.
IG Sallu revealed that they found arms and ammunition at the facility, six phones with multiple sim cards, and some documents, which will be examined.
IG Selleu alluded that Captain Senesie was an opps officer at the 5th battalion Wilberforce Barracks on the eve of last year’s failed coup. “He manoeuvred himself to be a field officer to decongest the security at the barracks for a successful operation,” the IG said.
